You may not like her music, her attitude, nor her style, but there’s no denying it; 2017 has become the year of Cardi B.

This Bronx-born rapper has become a huge player in the music industry as of recent, having conceded four BET Hip-Hop awards, one Soul Train Award, two Grammy nominations, and securing the top spot on the Billboard 100 in this year alone. Here’s a breakdown of how Cardi’s year has been going so far:

1.February 2017: Cardi B signs her first major record label recording contract with Atlantic Records.

2. May 2017: Cardi B is nominated for Best New Artist and Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Awards.

3. August 2017: “Bodak Yellow” is released, and within a month, it becomes certified Gold.

4. September 2017: “Bodak Yellow” becomes #1 on the Billboard 100, making her the only female rapper to secure the top spot unaccompanied by other artists in the last 19 years.

5. October 2017: “Bodak Yellow” retains the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 100 for three consecutive weeks, making history as holding the longest running No. 1 by a solo female rapper of all time. Later that month, Cardi B is awarded four BET Hip-Hop Awards for Single of the Year, Best New Hip-Hop Artist, Hustler of the Year, and “Made-You-Look” Award. Along with celebrating her birthday, she ends the month with her engagement to rapper boyfriend Offset from The Migos.

6. November 2017: Cardi B wins the “Rhythm and Bars” Award at the Soul Train Awards, and is awarded two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.

What began with her departure from stripping more than a year ago, Cardi has transformed herself from an internet sensation into an international superstar. From the strip club to Love & Hip Hop and now an international stage, Cardi has won the hearts of many across the world with her her eccentric charisma, her openness about her sexuality, and her overall grind to get where she needs to be.

She's not just a regular, degular, shmegular girl from the Bronx anymore; she's a rapper, history-maker, black feminist, and now, potential Grammy winner. More than just these roles, Cardi has proven through her versatility and determination that anything is possible, and more importantly, where you come from is not a determinant of where you're going.

We wish you the best of luck Cardi, and we can't wait to see where 2018 will take you next!
