Winter’s icy tendrils have taken a hold of April and is refusing to let go. Warm up by stopping in at Soup Guy Café in the Glebe for a hot and hearty meal. As their name suggests, this café offers eight soups that are rotated daily so you’re sure to see something new each time you visit. Plus, they offer a selection of sandwiches, quiches, and desserts. This is my go-to spot for a light and healthy lunch if I’m in the Lansdowne area and it’s also a great pick me up for those who are feeling a little under the weather. Nothing is more comforting than a warm bowl of soup!

I ordered a medium Canadian Pea Soup. My mug was filled to the brim with a soup that was packed with savory bacon flavor. Mixed in was a medley of colorful vegetables like potatoes, carrots, onions, beans, peas, and corn making it extremely filling. I also ordered a side tuna crescent. The flaky crescent was fresh and crispy and inside it was cheese sandwiching a layer of tuna salad. Delicious! Other favorites worth mentioning include their Artichoke Chicken and Asparagus Soup for those who enjoy creamy flavors, and their Casablanca Moroccan Chickpea and Lentil Soup which has a unique flavor you must try. If you’re indecisive like me and find yourself stuck between two choices, ask for a sample! They are happy to provide you with a few tasters to ensure that you settle on one that you will love.
Soups are served in small, medium, or large sizes and are offered in take away containers as well. For those with dietary restrictions, they offer vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options daily. On Wednesdays, pair your soup or sandwich with a $5 glass of wine for a midweek treat. If you’re a student flash your student ID and receive 10% off.
