Who doesn’t love chocolate? It satisfies cravings, it’s good for your heart, it’s romantic, it makes you happy, and it can help you recover from dementor attacks.
Cacao 70 is paradise for chocoholics in the city. If you’ve got a sweet tooth this is most certainly the place you want to be.
Their menu boasts chocolate fondues, waffles, crepes, ice cream, and even dessert pizzas! In the beverage department, they’ve got you covered with a variety of hot chocolates, chocolate shakes, smoothies, and coffees. If you’re more of the savory type they’ve got a list of omelettes for brunch, sandwiches, savory crepes and salads. Talk about selection!
Though, if you come to Cacao 70 for a salad I’m judging you just a little bit…
I love chocolate, and I love tea. Those two worlds collide in Cacao 70's Earl Grey Chocolate Fondue. A double order came with four cups of a fruit medley, as well as some waffles and brownies dusted in icing sugar. There was plenty to share with a friend. The fondue had a lovely lavender color which was neat – if things are in my favorite color that’s an automatic plus. The melted chocolate had subtle hints of fruit and florals which made it a great choice in anticipation of spring.
Our server said it tasted “slightly like Fruit Loops” which is also accurate.
As much as I want it to be spring the windy walk through Lansdowne Park reminded me that alas, it is still very much winter. So, I paired my fondue with a warm Champurrado. The menu promised “a spicy cinnamon punch” which I didn’t really get but it was still a delicious drink. This rich and heavy hot chocolate was served topped with whipped cream and a stick of cinnamon. It was a little bitter though- in a good, dark chocolate kind of way. Overall, each sip was the perfect pause between bites of chocolate covered brownies and strawberries.
