With Halloween officially over and everyone jumping on the Christmas train so quickly, I decided that we should take a step back and keep the spirit of Halloween alive a little longer, at least for this week! I feel like decorating for Christmas is just asking for it to snow so let's not get too crazy here and pretend it's still Fall. I've complied a list of my favourite movies that are always my go to during Halloween. If you missed out on watching these this year, go ahead and be crazy, watch them today!

Pretend you are a kid again with no responsibilities and watch;

1. Hocus Pocus (1993) - In this movie three witch sisters (Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy) must steal the souls of children to become immortal. Three kids and a talking cat work together to foil their plans and save their town.

2. The Witches (1990) - In this movie a boy is staying at a hotel in England and is caught spying on a witches convention where they are discussing turning all the children in the world into mice. After catching him they turn him into a mouse and he must work with his Grandmother to stop the witches.

3. Double Double Toil and Trouble (1993) - This is an Olsen twins classic from when they were little girls. They play twins who must help save their Aunt who is also a twin and has been trapped and doomed to the netherworld.

4. Casper (1995) - Another classic from my childhood, this one is everyones favourite friendly ghost. A teenage girl and her dad move into a haunted mansion where the teenage daughter befriends and falls in love with Casper.

5. Phantom of the Megaplex (2000) - A teenage manager at a movie theatre starts to experience creepy things happening at the movie theatre. He investigates these as sabotage by a phantom of the movie theatre.

If you want to get in the spirit of Halloween but not be so scared that you lose sleep you should watch;

1. Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) - Don't let the year this was released scare you, its not a basic old school movie. This is musical theatre realness, serving comedy and catchy songs as well as some thrills. A lovely couples car breaks down and they find shelter in a creepy old mansion that is home to a partying transvestite alien. I can't explain it, just watch.

2. Beetlejuice (1988) -  A couple who has recently died hires a ghost to scare the new family who has moved into the couples home. Beetlejuice is the ghost doing the most. If you ever thought someone was extra, then watch this movie to compare them to Beetlejuice.

3. Edward Scissorhands (1990) - A scientist creates a human being but dies before he is able to finish creating him leaving him with scissors as hands. He is found by a a kind woman who takes him home to care for him where he then falls in love with her teenage daughter.

4. Ghostbusters (2016) - I put the remake in because well GIRL POWER! I love all of the funny ladies in this remake so it actually becomes a must watch for me. Ghost chasing women are looked at like they're crazy and they are out to prove that ghosts do exist.

5. Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) - Jack Skellington looks to bring Christmas to his Halloweentown by kidnapping Santa Clause. Of course not everything is as easy as Jack hopes it to be.

Take a step back to High School with these teen halloween flicks;

1. Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1992) - A valley girl cheerleader is told she is destined to hunt and kill Vampires. She must learn quickly to defeat a strong vampire who has hit her town. This is a light and funny movie that is really different from the t.v series of the same name.

2. The Craft (1996) - A staple for every teen girl to experience. I believe at one point we all wanted to be witches and this movie was probably behind 90% of it. In this movie new girl moves to town and the 3 outcast girls at school realize she is the key to them becoming full on strong witches, they come together and some shit goes down.

3. Mean Girls (2004) - Is it a stretch to call this a Halloween movie? Sort of, but it is primarily set during the month of October and they do dress up so I count it anyway. I'm a mouse duh. If you haven't already seen this then you must have just escaped the bunker you were living in. Mean girls rule the school and the new girl is ready to take them down but falls under the spell of popularity and becomes them instead.

4. Idle Hands (1999) - A stoner teen has has his hand possessed by evil which starts murdering people against his will including his best friends. He chops of the hand but it continues to wreak havoc and is after the girl of his dreams. With the help of his dead buddies and a witch they set off to stop the demonic hand.

5. Fun Size (2012) - A movie that actually takes place on Halloween! A teen girl gets stuck with the responsibility of taking her younger brother trick or treating and loses him. The teen and her pals set off on an epic night to find her missing little brother.

Halloween just wouldn't be Halloween without slasher movies so here are a few of my horror movie must sees;

1. House of Wax (2005) - I just absolutely love this movie. It's scary, gory and has an awesome cast. Paris Hilton, Chad Michael Murray, Elisha Cuthbert to name a few. This star studded cast shines. This movie where there is an entire town made of wax and a group of teens stumble upon it when their car breaks down. The town is not a real town and it was made by a crazy murderer who is now out to get the teens.

2. Scream 1,2,3, & 4. (1996-2011) - The Scream movie franchise is one of the best of all time. It provides so much entertainment, rootable characters and a lot of death. The series follows Sydney Prescott who is stalked every movie by someone wearing a ghost face costume.

3. I Know What You Did Last Summer & I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1997-1998) - More classic slasher from the 90's! This one follows a group of teens who accidentally hit and run a fisherman and dispose of his body. They are then stalked and murdered! Classic!

4. House of 1000 Corpses (2003) - This is some twisted, scary shit. A group of teens go in search of an urban legend and end up finding a group of murderous backwoods psychos. This movie is seriously insanely terrifying so if you want to be scared then watch this. There is also a sequel called The Devils Rejects which is equally horrifying.

5. The Evil Dead (2013) - This is another movie where I list the most recent remake to watch because well relevance! This movie is terrifying and just so weird. A group of teens are staying at a remote cabin and begin to explore it, they find a spell book and read out loud one of the spells which unleashes evil and possesses one of the group who then begins to try to kill the others and pass on the possession.
