The Ottawa Festivals Network has brought an entire 7 days of comedy to Ottawa this week. What do I mean by this? Literally, that. Ottawa has a comedy festival in town.
The event started on March 18th, 2018 but will go on until the grand finale on March 24th meaning if you haven't yet checked it out, you still have the chance to hit it up! The event will be honouring comedian, Mike MacDonald's legacy and it is not for profit. The best part of this event, however, is the fact that it aims to shed light on mental health while bringing smiles to members of the community's faces.

The event "Cracking-Up the Capital" started years ago but only recently became the week long festival it is today, now named the "Alterna Savings CrackUp" Comedy Festival. You may be asking yourself why you should go and what's so special about the event but asides from the fact that it's for a really amazing cause, the event is so well known and popular that it attracts top-notch comedians from all over the world. On top of that, this is the type of event you can go to with family, your significant other, or with friends!
As previously mentioned, they have many events all throughout the week, however, two of the most notable ones and two that really stuck out to me are the Late Night CrackUp as well as the CrackUp Comedy Festival Finale. To elaborate, the Late Night Crackup event seems like such a fun time just because it's a great opportunity to take your loved one out and spend some time with an older crowd. As for the festival finale, you can certainly bet that the top comedians will be bringing out their best game in order to win. Overall, that just sounds like such a great show.
On top of providing Ottawans with some hilarious entertainment and exciting events, the festival is partnering with different organizations such as DIFD (Do it for Daron), the CHEO Foundation, The Royal, and many others, all with the aim to bring awareness to Canadians suffering from mental health.
Now, regarding the details of the event, as previously mentioned, it does take place from the week of the 18-24th meaning two days of the event have already passed but there's still a good 4 days left of events. The schedule is as follows:
