Ottawa is thawing out with the recent double-digit weather and we are beyond excited to emerge from our winter hibernation. The best way to celebrate warm weather is with cool and refreshing ice cream and Centretown has just the spot for you to try. Originally based in Hong Kong, Magic Molecule is a new Ottawa dessert shop that flash freezes ingredients to make fresh ice cream. Orders are made right before your eyes with a magical fog bubbling out of their blenders. Magic Molecule uses liquid nitrogen to instantly freeze ingredients but don’t worry, it’s odorless, tasteless, colorless and perfectly safe to consume!

We tried their Mango Pop-Ice and just had to tell you all about it. This frozen treat is served in a cup layered with fresh mango cubes, liquid nitrogen ice cream, bursting mango-flavoured boba, and fresh cream. It also includes a syringe filed with a mango flavored syrup that you can drizzle for a boost of flavor. This summer treat is a must try, and also comes in strawberry! Their Passion Fruit Boiling Ice Cream Cup was served with a cup of ice cream on top of refreshing tea. With the added -196°C liquid nitrogen, our tea chilled instantly and mist leaked out in plumes like a witch’s boiling cauldron. Very magical!

Magic Molecule offers twelve delicious flavors including Cappuccino, Coconut, Mint, Green Tea, Caramel, and Blueberry. If you’re not feeling ice cream they also offer a variety of teas, floats, coffees, deep fried snacks and other desserts. They’re located at 217 Bank Street and are open from 12pm – 9pm Monday to Thursday, 12pm – 10pm Friday and Saturday, and 1pm -8pm on Sunday. If you can’t make it to their store their ice creams can be delivered right to your door through Skip the Dishes. Check out their website HERE.
